hiddify-app review

Hiddify App is a proxy client for Android, iOS, Windows, macOS and Linux, built around sing-box. It imports connection profiles and lets you select servers, but you still need a connection link from a provider or your own server. English documentation is available alongside translated READMEs.

Verdict

Hiddify App requires a connection profile, and its desktop VPN mode requires administrator rights, so it fits users who can supply both the connection and the permissions they need. Our lab did not run its Dart application, leaving setup ease and connection behavior unassessed. Try your actual profile and required apps on the intended device before relying on its routing.

Answers from our run

Did you run hiddify-app yourself?

No. Its code is Dart, and it carries no manifest our lab installs from, so there was nothing standard to install, build or test. This review is written from the repository's own documentation.

Who should not use hiddify-app?

People expecting the app download to supply a proxy subscription: the usage guide requires a connection link from a provider or your own server.

What are the alternatives to hiddify-app?

Clash Verge Rev, v2rayNG. Hiddify App requires a connection profile, and its desktop VPN mode requires administrator rights, so it fits users who can supply both the connection and the permissions they need.

SetupN/ANot assessed: installation was not reproduced in a supported environment.
DocsN/AEnglish README and usage instructions were inspected, but no documentation-led device setup was completed.
CommunityN/ARecent issue and translation activity was inspected; support response quality and maintainer capacity were not assessed.
MaturityN/ANo application execution, routing checks or sustained device operation was performed in the supplied lab record.

Who it’s for

Users who already have a supported connection link and want a graphical client across phones and computers.
People who want to choose a server manually or use the documented delay-based selection.
Desktop users prepared to distinguish local proxy, system proxy and VPN modes before relying on traffic routing.

Who it’s NOT for

People expecting the app download to supply a proxy subscription: the usage guide requires a connection link from a provider or your own server.
Desktop users needing VPN mode on a machine where they cannot obtain administrator rights: the guide requires elevated privileges for that mode.
Users whose subscription provider only supplies plain HTTP links: the guide says the app no longer accepts those subscription URLs.

Setup reality

We did not run Hiddify App. Our October 30, 2026 lab record for commit 3377945 says the harness had no supported ecosystem for its Dart code. It recorded a Dockerfile, but no installation, build or test outcome. This is a harness coverage gap, with no product failure established.

The usage guide requires an installed app and a connection link from your provider or your own server. It says subscription URLs must start with HTTPS. An account or credential requirement depends on that provider; downloading the client does not supply the connection profile.

The recorded sandbox configuration listed 3 CPUs and 8 GB RAM, with no image specified. The guide says desktop System proxy mode is the default, while VPN mode requires administrator rights. Neither mode nor any platform package was evaluated in our lab.

Installing Hiddify App doesn't supply the connection link its usage guide asks you to import. On a computer, even connecting a profile leaves another choice: the default System proxy mode can be ignored by some applications. Decide where your traffic needs to go before treating the connect button as the whole setup.

Hiddify App is a graphical proxy client built around sing-box, with documented support for Android, iOS, Windows, macOS and Linux. Its English README lists remote profiles, automatic subscription updates and delay-based node selection. The useful question is whether those profile and routing controls match your devices. We have no measured result for connection quality or privacy.

What happened when we ran it

We did not run Hiddify App: our October 30, 2026 lab record for commit 3377945 says the harness had no supported ecosystem for Dart. It recorded a Dockerfile. There is no installation, build or test result to turn into a timing, a pass count or a setup rating.

The recorded sandbox configuration listed 3 CPUs and 8 GB RAM, with no image specified. Those settings don't establish a runtime version or a supported application environment. The lab's inability to execute this project is a coverage limit, with no evidence here that the application itself failed.

This is therefore a documentation-based assessment. It can identify prerequisites and reasons to walk away, but it cannot tell you whether a particular package connects successfully on your device.

A profile supplies the servers the client can use

The usage guide starts with an installed app and a connection link from a provider or your own Hiddify server. It distinguishes a profile, which can contain several servers, from a single-server configuration. That is the first adoption requirement: have a connection you intend to use, rather than expecting the download itself to supply one.

The guide describes adding a profile through a provider's user page, the clipboard, manual entry or a QR code. Subscription links retrieve a server list and update it automatically. It says they must use HTTPS and that plain HTTP subscription URLs are no longer accepted. If your provider supplies only the latter, resolve that mismatch before choosing this client.

The README lists Sing-box, V2ray, Clash and Clash meta configuration formats, plus several protocols. Those lists give you candidates to evaluate, without proving every option in an existing profile will behave identically. Start with the actual link and server configuration you use. An importable format alone doesn't establish a working connection.

Desktop system proxy mode can leave apps outside the proxy

Hiddify's guide distinguishes three service modes. Proxy mode runs a local proxy that other apps must be configured to use. System proxy mode is the desktop default, and the guide says some applications, including games and desktop programs, ignore it. VPN mode is the documented route for sending device traffic through the app.

That difference can decide the purchase before protocol support does. If your browser works but another required program ignores the system proxy, the default mode may not meet your requirement. Inspect the behavior of each required application. A successful browser request would only answer the browser question.

The guide says desktop VPN mode requires administrator rights, called root on Linux and macOS. People using managed computers should establish whether those rights are available before relying on this mode. If they aren't, the local or system proxy options still have their documented scope, but they don't erase the permission requirement for VPN mode.

Phones have their own setup boundary: the guide says Android and iOS ask permission to create a VPN connection on first use. This review doesn't verify the resulting routing or DNS behavior. Those checks belong on the device and network where you intend to depend on the client.

Delay-based selection doesn't establish sustained performance

The Proxies page displays servers and their delays. The guide says the app selects the fastest working server by default and lets you tap a specific one instead. It also offers a delay check and sorting controls. These are useful ways to inspect or override selection when a profile contains several candidates.

A displayed delay isn't a measurement of download throughput or reliability over a working day. We didn't measure any of those outcomes. During a trial, check the applications you need with both the automatic choice and a manually selected server, rather than treating the lowest displayed delay as the complete decision.

The guide also documents an Enable analytics setting for anonymous crash reports. Inspect that setting if it matters to your deployment. Neither the README's privacy language nor the existence of source code establishes a security audit or the trustworthiness of your chosen provider.

Repository activity leaves device-specific questions open

GitHub records a last push on November 1, 2026. The recent issue feed contains translation work alongside Android TV reports of crashes after pressing connect. These user reports were not reproduced in our lab. They justify checking the exact device you plan to use, without supporting a blanket claim that Android connections are broken.

Documentation coverage is also left unscored: the guide explains profile import and mode permissions, but this assessment didn't complete those instructions. Recent work establishes activity. It doesn't establish how quickly maintainers will resolve a particular device problem or how stable another platform package will be.

Desktop editing and Android-only use have alternatives

Clash Verge Rev uses Mihomo and documents Merge and Script profile helpers plus visual node and rule editors. Evaluate it when those desktop editing controls matter. v2rayNG is an Android V2Ray client supporting Xray and v2fly cores. Evaluate it for that specific mobile requirement. We have no comparative connection measurements.

For Hiddify, bring your real profile to the device you intend to use. Choose the required routing mode, confirm its permissions and check each application that must use the connection. If the desktop needs VPN mode and you cannot obtain administrator rights, settle that constraint before depending on the client.
