Google acquires Crusoe's Wyoming data center site

Crusoe says its pre-development role is complete. The announcement leaves the site's construction schedule and eventual operating capacity unspecified.

Google has acquired Crusoe's data center site in southeast Wyoming, Crusoe announced on November 6, 2026. The deal completes Crusoe's pre-development role, covering site selection, governmental approvals and power planning. It transfers a prepared project to Google without establishing when computing capacity will become available.

Crusoe's announcement gives no purchase price, construction schedule or operating-capacity figure for the Wyoming site. Those omissions limit what the transaction says about Google's near-term supply of AI infrastructure.

The power plan still has stages

Crusoe describes a hybrid power strategy developed with Tallgrass Energy, combining fuel cells, grid electricity and natural gas turbines. Carbon capture appears in a longer-term roadmap tied to Tallgrass's regional sequestration hub. That wording leaves carbon capture as a planned element, rather than evidence of emissions already being captured at the campus.

For readers tracking data center expansion, the useful distinction is between completing development preparations and bringing servers online. The acquisition confirms a change of ownership. The release doesn't establish that the campus is operating.

A different role from the Texas project

Crusoe's relationship with Google also includes a campus in Armstrong County, Texas. In a September 28 announcement, Crusoe identified itself as that project's developer and said construction had started in June 2025. Its role there extends into construction, while the Wyoming update closes its pre-development engagement.

The Texas announcement describes a direct connection to adjacent wind farms, one operating and another under construction. It also specifies a planned closed-loop, non-evaporative liquid cooling system. Those details belong to Armstrong County and shouldn't be assumed to describe Wyoming.

The next useful Wyoming update would give a construction timetable, energized capacity and the status of the proposed power equipment. Until then, Crusoe's release supports a completed site transaction, with the operating milestones still unspecified.
